Symbolically, the conquest of Golgotha has been has been described as the defeat of the “prince of this world.” The author also explains that Jesus of Nazareth, while born in Galilee, was neither a teacher of the Jewish Law, which he merely cited on occasion, nor the founder of a faith that used his name and sayings to create a new religion that worshiped his as “God,” but that his wisdom and authority derived from a higher source, of whose existence only myths and rumors have reflected knowledge until now. The book also offers criteria to distinguish genuine and spurious teaching on spiritual reality, and emphasizes that intellectual proficiency should not be mistaken for conscious spiritual life.
